Introducing Danrie x Amaia London: The Holiday Capsule
We’re so excited to introduce the Danrie x Amaia London Holiday Capsule, an exclusive collaboration featuring timeless European-inspired designs, beautiful craftsmanship, and thoughtful details made for the holiday season.
Born from a meeting in London and a shared appreciation for beautifully made childrenswear, this exclusive collection brings together classic silhouettes, rich seasonal colors, and festive details. We sat down with Julia and the Amaia team to share how the collaboration came to life, the inspiration behind the collection, and the thoughtful craftsmanship that makes each piece so special.
1. Danrie first introduced Amaia London to its assortment for Fall/Winter 2026. What initially drew you to the brand, and what made you feel it would be such a natural fit for Danrie?
Julia: Aurélie from the Amaia team reached out to me on Instagram and suggested we meet. As it happened, my family and I were planning a trip to London just a few weeks later, so I suggested we meet in person.
I hadn’t yet discovered Amaia, but the moment I stepped into their beautiful Chelsea storefront, I was completely taken by the collection. Every piece felt more special and considered than the last. After choosing a few things for my own children and baby niece, we popped over to Birley Bakery and kept chatting.
It was there that we decided it would be so fun to create something together for Amaia London’s debut season at Danrie. Our brands felt immediately aligned, not only aesthetically, but in our shared belief in beautifully made, timeless clothing for children. Everything came together so naturally, it truly felt kismet!
2. Amaia London has such a distinct point of view rooted in European craftsmanship and traditional childrenswear. For those discovering the brand through Danrie for the first time, can you share a little about how Amaia London began and how the brand has evolved since?
Amaia: Amaia London began when I was pregnant with my first child and living in London. I realised I couldn’t find the beautifully made baby clothes I had grown up with in Spain, so I wanted to bring that European craftsmanship, heritage and timeless style to London.
More than 20 years and three children later, the brand has grown internationally, largely through word of mouth and the loyalty of families who have been with us for many years. While we have evolved, our DNA remains unchanged: timeless European childrenswear, beautifully made by small family-owned ateliers using exceptional fabrics and traditional craftsmanship, with a particular love for matching siblings and pieces made to accompany our children throughout all their childhood.
3. The relationship really began when Julia visited the Amaia London team in London last November. What do you both remember about meeting for the first time, and how did that initial connection eventually lead to creating an exclusive holiday collection together?
Julia: It was one of those rare meetings where we could have talked for hours, and we did. We shared stories about raising our families, what inspired each of us to build our businesses, and our favorite places in New York and London. There was such an immediate ease between us, both personally and creatively. It felt less like a first meeting and more like reconnecting with old friends. I could have stayed all afternoon, but Phil and the kids eventually came to fetch me for our matinee.
Amaia: I couldn’t have described it better. It felt as though we had known each other forever, so natural, easy and completely effortless. We immediately connected over our families, our businesses and the many things we have in common. Creatively, we also understood each other instinctively, so the idea of doing something together felt like a very natural next step. The holiday collection really grew from that first conversation.
4. Amaia’s Spanish roots are such an important part of the brand, even as it has grown in London and around the world. How has that combination of Spanish heritage and life in London shaped the way you approach design?
Amaia: It has shaped us in so many ways. Our Spanish heritage is very much at the heart of Amaia. I think dressing children beautifully is somehow part of our DNA! But London has brought another dimension to the brand. We have families from so many different nationalities and cultures walking through our doors, each with their own tastes, traditions and expectations. Being exposed to that incredible variety is a constant source of inspiration and has helped us create collections that feel distinctly Amaia, but where everyone can find something they love.
5. When you started discussing an exclusive collection with the Amaia team, how did you describe what the Danrie customer was looking for?
Julia: The Danrie customer is someone with a strong point of view who is looking for children’s clothing that feels special, beautifully made, and timeless. She appreciates thoughtful details, exceptional fabrics, and a European sensibility, and wants pieces that feel elevated but are still wearable.
For this collection, we wanted to create something that felt distinctly Amaia and distinctly Danrie: timeless silhouettes with beautiful, unexpected details that children would be excited to wear and parents would want to save. So many of our customers return to Danrie year after year to build their children’s holiday wardrobes, and that is something I will never take for granted. We hoped to create pieces that would become part of those traditions, look darling in pictures and be remembered long after the holiday season has passed.
6. Can you take us behind the design process? How did you go from those first conversations to deciding on the silhouettes, fabrics, colors, and details that ultimately became the collection?
Julia: It was honestly very straightforward because we had such similar visions from the start. We began with a few tried and true Amaia silhouettes, styles that already capture the brand’s charm and beautiful craftsmanship, and built from there.
We knew we wanted the collection to feel classic and festive, while still distinct enough to feel like a true collaboration. Rich, special fabrics were important to us, paired with thoughtful details that make each piece feel memorable. We landed on a foil print holiday floral with velvet accents for the girls, alongside fine micro corduroy and wool jumpers for the boys.
Everything has that nostalgic, richly layered holiday feeling while remaining comfortable and wearable for children. The final collection feels polished and special, but never overly formal. Exactly the kind of pieces we love for holiday gatherings, family photos, and parties.
Amaia: It really was a very natural process. We were incredibly aligned from the beginning on how we wanted the collection to feel: timeless, festive and special, but still very much made for children. There was very little back and forth because we instinctively seemed to love the same things, which made the whole creative process wonderfully easy.
7. The final collection comes together through the Winter Berry floral, winter red corduroy, and a classic Fair Isle knit. What inspired this mix, and what made it feel right for the holidays?
Amaia: For us, it was the perfect holiday combination. We chose one of Amaia’s bestselling dress silhouettes for the Winter Berry floral, with its beautiful gold foil details giving it a particularly festive feel. The red corduroy brings warmth, while the Fair Isle knit in classic Christmas ivory, red and green adds that lovely nostalgic touch. Together, they feel joyful, timeless and unmistakably Christmassy.
8. Craftsmanship and preserving traditional European textile techniques are central to Amaia London. How does that philosophy come through in this collection?
Amaia: The collection is entirely made in Spain by small, family-run ateliers, many of whom we have worked with for years. There is such pride and care in every piece they create, and I think you can really feel that in the finished garments. From the beautiful fabrics to the velvet ribbons, delicate trims and carefully finished details, everything is made with the attention and craftsmanship that make these pieces feel so special.
9. Both Danrie and Amaia London were founded by mothers and share a love for making childhood feel special. How did that shared perspective influence the collection and the way you approached working together?
Julia: Working moms make things happen, period! More than anything, I love getting to work with inspiring and talented women, and Amaia and Aurélie are exactly that.
There is nothing better than collaborating with partners whose energy, values, and vision align so naturally. We approached every detail with that shared perspective, creating pieces that feel celebratory and memorable for parents, while still being comfortable, playful, and exciting for children to wear. Every time I get to work with women and brands who are so aligned with Danrie, I feel incredibly grateful.
Amaia: I think being mothers who have built our businesses alongside raising our families created an immediate understanding between us. We both know the wonderful chaos of trying to do it all, and perhaps that is why working together felt so easy. There was trust, warmth and very little fuss! Our children have also been such an important part of why we each started our businesses, so there is something particularly special about bringing our two worlds together in this collection.
10. Finally, do you each have a favorite piece from the Danrie x Amaia London collection, and how would you style it for the holidays?
Julia: I truly can’t pick a favorite. Every piece has something I love about it, and all of the children celebrating Christmas Eve at my house will be head to toe in Amaia London x Danrie this year!
The pieces really stand on their own. We have tights that are a perfect match for the girls’ styles, but beyond that, I think they need very little styling. A simple Mary Jane or classic loafer is all you need.
Amaia: Every time I look at the collection, I find myself drawn to a different piece. I love how beautifully everything works together, particularly for siblings, but also that each piece can be worn and enjoyed on its own. Although we designed the collection with the holidays in mind, nothing feels limited to Christmas. The dresses, corduroy and knits can be styled more simply and worn throughout the winter. For me, that is always important: special pieces that create beautiful memories, but that children can enjoy again and again.
