We’re so excited to introduce Brianna Joye, the inspiring founder and community-builder behind City Moms Who Walk.
City Moms Who Walk was created from Brianna Joye’s simple yet powerful idea: let’s walk, let’s talk, and let’s build community while we do it. What started in New York has become a movement for moms seeking connection, balance, and wellness in motherhood. We sat down with Brianna to talk about finding friendship, redefining fitness, and creating space for moms to feel seen and supported.
What inspired you to create City Moms Who Walk? Was there a personal moment or experience that sparked the idea?
I started City Moms Who Walk because I know how isolating motherhood can feel. I wanted to create a space where moms could come together, share not just about our babies but also our own interests, and feel a little less alone. The idea was simple: let’s walk, let’s talk, and let’s build community while we do it.
For someone who’s never heard of it, how would you describe a City Moms Who Walk meet-up?
It’s relaxed, fun, and welcoming—moms, strollers, babies, even dogs show up. We walk, we chat, and we connect. It’s part workout, part therapy session, and always a reminder that you’re not doing this season of life alone.
How has becoming a mom to Charlotte and Oakley shaped the way you approach both your fitness content and the community you’re building?
Before, I was all about pushing myself and chasing tough workouts, but becoming a mom shifted everything. Now I’m focused on balance and making movement feel attainable—because let’s be real, time and energy are gold. Charlotte taught me the power of quick, efficient workouts that fit into nap windows, and Oakley reminds me daily that movement can also be fun and social. Together, they’ve inspired me to create fitness that feels doable and to build a community where moms can show up with babies, strollers, or pups—no pressure, just support and connection.
What has surprised you most about the community that’s grown from these walks? Do you have a favorite story or moment that really captures its spirit?
One mom told me she didn’t have any friends for her daughter, and through City Moms Who Walk she found another little one they now meet up with every week. Stories like that melt me—it’s not just about moms connecting, it’s about our kids finding friendship too.
Walking can seem so simple, but it’s also powerful. Why do you think it resonates so much with moms, both physically and mentally?
Walking might seem basic, but that’s the beauty of it. Moms don’t always have time for a fancy workout, but a walk? That’s accessible, gentle, and still makes you feel amazing. Physically it gets you moving, and mentally it’s like a reset button—you get fresh air, a little therapy, and a chance to connect. For so many of us, it’s the easiest way to take care of ourselves while being part of a community that gets it.
What advice would you give to moms who want to start moving more but feel overwhelmed by time, kids, and responsibilities?
Start small and take the pressure off. Movement doesn’t have to mean a 60-minute class—sometimes it’s a 10-minute stroller walk or stretching while the baby plays on the mat. Little moments add up, and the win is just getting moving at all. Consistency beats perfection every time, and giving yourself grace makes it so much easier to actually enjoy it.
Has motherhood shifted your definition of wellness or self-care? If so, how?
Definitely. For me, wellness now means patience—taking things day by day instead of rushing to results. It’s about giving myself grace, slowing down, and remembering that small, consistent steps count as self-care.
City Moms Who Walk began in New York, but do you envision expanding into other neighborhoods or even other cities?
Absolutely—I’d love to see City Moms Who Walk grow beyond New York. We’ve already done City Girls Who Walk in other cities, and now the goal is to expand City Moms and make it a nationwide community where moms everywhere can connect through something as simple and powerful as walking.
What would you say to a mom who is hesitant to join but curious about the community?
Don’t be nervous about coming alone—most moms do! The second you show up, you’ll feel welcomed and included. It’s a judgment-free space where everyone’s just looking for connection, and chances are you’ll leave with new friends.
What’s the most rewarding part for you personally—seeing the community, watching it grow, or maybe something else entirely?
The most rewarding part is watching these connections form and realizing how much they matter. Seeing moms find support and friendships they really needed reminds me why I started this in the first place.

An Inside Look
This September, the Danrie team joined City Moms Who Walk for a Saturday stroll through Central Park. It was a relaxed, joy-filled morning spent connecting with fellow moms, sharing stories, and celebrating the simple power of walking together.
