We had the opportunity to learn more about Carolina Flores, the creative mind behind Balloons by Caro. She tells us about her creative journey, her inspirations, and the rewards and challenges of running her own balloon design business, all while balancing the joys of motherhood.
What was your inspiration for Balloons by Caro? Tell us a little bit about how you got your start.
I started in March of 2020, we were hosting my daughter's 2nd birthday in the middle of the chaos, trying to keep it normal for her special day. I intended to make a balloon garland with an Amazon kit which turned out beautifully. From that moment I found what I never thought would be one of my biggest passions! Three months later, I turned this passion into a business.
Do your daughters help you with any of your projects? They must love watching your creations come to life!
Both of my daughters love when I ask them for feedback. Especially if I'm doing a party with one of their favorite characters!
At Danrie, we understand firsthand the challenges that come with running a growing business. What aspects have you found the most challenging and the most rewarding?
My biggest challenge to grow my business was understanding and finding the ideal clientele. I knew I wanted to be able to make balloons affordable yet luxurious for everyone. However, living in New Jersey and wanting to Penetrate the New York City Market was a challenge. In 2022, I finally got my First Job in NYC and it was the most rewarding moment. I’m so happy to say we now service NYC, The Hamptons and New Jersey.
What is your favorite part of the creative process as you design for each client?
Definitely the colors. When a client requests a custom balloon color and I get to play and mix colors to bring the palette to life, it excites me because I know it's going to look beautiful.
Is there a favorite project of yours that comes to mind?
As a mom, kids' birthday parties are my favorite. It's really fun to create balloons for a boy that loves cars or a girl that loves mermaids. I’m able to add details to bring their favorite characters to life. It's very rewarding.
What is one thing you’d like us to know about you that we might not know already?
I run my business from home, but I’m manifesting a bigger space in the near future!
